What Is a Dental Examination?
A dental examination is a full check of your teeth, gums, soft tissues and bite. It’s how we spot problems early, while they’re simpler and cheaper to treat, and give you an honest picture of your oral health.
An adult check-up at Concept Dental, including X-rays, is currently £25 (usually £50). Children’s check-ups (ages 0–12) are £20. It’s also the starting point for any treatment, because it gives us what we need to plan your care properly.

Your examination is carried out by one of our GDC-registered dentists. We’ll explain what we find in plain English, and if you’d like to see the same dentist each time, just let us know when you book.

What Does a Dental Examination Include?
- A full assessment of every tooth, including existing fillings and restorations
- Gum health screening for early signs of gum disease
- Soft tissue checks, including the tongue, cheeks and lips, for any signs of oral cancer
- A bite and jaw assessment
- X-rays where clinically necessary
- A written treatment plan with clear prices if any treatment is needed
We don’t rush examinations. If you have concerns you’d like to raise, we build in time for them.
What Happens After the Examination?
If everything is healthy, we’ll recommend how often to come back and how to look after your teeth at home. If you need treatment, you’ll leave with a written plan showing what we recommend, why, and what it costs. There’s no pressure to decide on the day.

For most patients, every six to twelve months. We’ll advise on the right interval for you based on the health of your teeth and gums.
Do I need to be an existing patient to book?

Will I have X-rays at my examination?
Only where they’re clinically necessary. We’ll always explain why we recommend one before taking it.
What if I am nervous about attending?
