What Is Children's Dentistry?
Children’s dentistry is preventive and restorative dental care for younger patients, from the first teeth through to the teenage years. The aim is to prevent problems before they start and to help your child build habits that protect their teeth for life.
Every child is different. Some are relaxed from the first visit, and others need more time and reassurance. We work at your child’s pace and never push ahead until they’re comfortable. Check-ups for children aged 0–12 are £20.

Who Will Look After My Child?
Your child will be seen by one of our GDC-registered dentists, who will explain everything in age-appropriate language. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay throughout the appointment.

What Does Children's Dentistry Include?
- Routine check-ups tailored to younger patients
- Fissure sealants to protect the biting surfaces of back teeth from decay, where appropriate

Your Child's First Visits
Bring your child as soon as their first teeth appear, or by their first birthday. Early visits are relaxed and low-key, and focus on getting them comfortable rather than carrying out treatment.
Over the first few visits we introduce the practice, the chair and the instruments gradually. Children who visit regularly from an early age tend to be more relaxed as they grow up.
Once your child is comfortable, regular check-ups let us monitor their teeth and jaws, look for early signs of decay and recommend preventive treatments where they help.
If a filling or other treatment is needed, we explain what is happening, take as much time as your child needs and never proceed if they are distressed.
Nervous Children
Some children are anxious about dental visits, which is more common than most parents realise. If your child is nervous, let us know when you book so we can plan the appointment carefully from the start. Support for nervous patients

Check-ups for children aged 0–12 are £20. Our membership plans from £16.99 a month also include free check-ups for children: one child on Plan B and up to two children on Plan C.
At what age should my child first see a dentist?
As soon as their first tooth appears, or around their first birthday. Early visits are about building familiarity, so dental visits feel normal rather than frightening.
My child is anxious about the dentist. Can you help?

Yes. Fissure sealants and fluoride application are available where appropriate. They are among the most effective ways to protect children’s teeth and are painless to apply.
