Tooth Extraction at Concept Dental
A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth that can’t be saved. We only recommend it once we have looked at whether the tooth can be repaired, and we talk you through replacing it before it is removed.
At Concept Dental, an extraction is £150. If you are in pain, emergency appointments are £50, including X-rays.

When Is a Tooth Extraction Needed?
We may recommend removing a tooth if it is:
- Badly decayed, with too little tooth left to repair
- Cracked or broken in a way that can’t be restored
- Infected, where other treatment is not suitable
- Loose because of advanced gum disease
Can the Tooth Be Saved Instead?
Often, yes. Depending on the tooth, root canal treatment followed by a crown can save a tooth that would otherwise need removing. We explain what is possible for your tooth, so you can compare the options before you decide.
What Happens After the Tooth Is Removed?
A gap can make eating harder, and over time the teeth next to it can drift into the space. We talk through replacement options before your extraction, so you know your choices:
Dental implant A fixed replacement that does not involve the neighbouring teeth. A single tooth implant is £2,500, including your CBCT scan and crown. Single tooth implant
Dental bridge A fixed replacement supported by the teeth either side of the gap. £650 per unit. Dental bridges
Denture A removable replacement for one or more teeth. Dentures
You don’t have to decide on the day. Teeth replacement
Looking After Yourself After an Extraction
We give you aftercare advice before you leave. In general, for the first day:
- Bite gently on the gauze we give you if the area bleeds
- Avoid rinsing your mouth, hot drinks, smoking and alcohol
- Eat soft food and chew on the other side
Contact us if the bleeding does not stop, if the pain gets worse after a few days rather than better, or if you notice swelling. Call 01157 731923.
Your Tooth Extraction Appointments
We examine the tooth, take an X-ray where needed and explain whether it can be saved.
We talk through your options, including replacing the tooth if it is removed, and give you a written plan with the cost.
The tooth is removed under local anaesthetic, with sedation available at the practice if you need it.
We give you aftercare advice and, if you want to replace the tooth, plan your next steps with you.
